You are absolutely doing the right thing in going off travelling. I admire you for 'working' as you go; taking that risk, leaving Oz to make your way, kind of unplanned, around the world.
You are still young and have made the right decision to do this.
You are qualified to go back and work eventually and who knows how your life will change along the way.
HOw long till you leave?

Combination of factors probably contribute antipodeans travelling more than most. South Africans are the same, to a degree.

There is a kind of wonder I guess in growing up on the far side of the world away from all that is heard / read in the news about Europe and the US.

This would make it natural to see if these things are real and to beat a new path as ancient explorers did. Who wouldn't want to be an explorer!
