I Leave In Six Weeks!
The panic is setting in.... I think. I am not sure if it is real panic, or if it is just a little bit of anxiety about having to get things done. You see, when I decided I would do this (way back in June last year), I decided that I would try and not plan too much. I would just book a one way ticket to London and see where the wind would take me. So, for the past eight months, I have had to just sit here in a state of complete and utter insecurity, not having any idea as to what would be going on in my life as of March 2006. Its been a hard, mentally exhausting road, but now with six weeks to go, I have to at least plan SOME things. Here is the long list of things that I need to do:
- Finalise payment of air ticket;
- Finalise selling of car (i think i have a potential buyer! Yay!)
- Buy travel insurance;
- Ensure this year's tax return is lodged;
- Send my extra bag of stuff over via ship;
- Get to the doctors and get jabbed with as many needles as possible;
- Organise power of attorneys to operate bank accounts etc in case of emergency;
- Notify relevant banks & organisations of power of attorney;
- Gather up documentation to take with me - bank statements, copies of visa and passport, copies of professional qualifications, academics and certificates;
- Update resume;
- Get International Student Identification Card;
- Inform Department of Foreign Affairs of my travel plans (albeit still very sketchy);
So. Its actually happening. In six weeks time, my life is going to dramatically change and its been all my doing - its been my conscious decision to sell up everything i own, to give up my job, to sell my beautiful car, and to say goodbye to those people that I love the most, in order to explore the world.
How bloody exciting!
