Hi Kate! The World is really quite small when you think of it, you are only a day away in the UK. With "skype" and the net you can talk cheaply when ever you want to, loads of Internet cafes that have video links so you can even see your family as you speak if you want to.
Tough though, I don`t envy you having to say good bye! perhaps "bye for now" or "see you soon" would be better and not so "final"
Thanks for your words, Rob. Saying goodbye to your family is never easy. But they want me to go and do this as much as I do. They know how much I need to do it.
I just wish the little Baby could :)
saying goodbye is one of the hardest things i've learned to do in life.. and i don't think i'll ever master the skill.

Ok taking a different perspective from everyone else--bring her with you! hahaha..ok kidnapping your niece may not be the best idea...
as already pointed out...you'll be back with amazing stories...and she's so young that you'll get back right when she'll be a little trouble-maker and she'll be able to say your name and hug you and recognize you :) something to look forward to when you come home!
I have trouble saying goodbye on the phone, so when it comes to a big goodbye on the eve of departure, i usually just leave and try not to make a fuss. Look forward to the celebration when you return!
